Automobile

Rum, dope, diamonds, coal,
Salt, spice, sugar, and gold,
Dig, trade, battle and toil—
Once for the rum, now for the oil.

Fur, tusk, ivory,
Indian tea, opium, weed,
People from here, people from there—
Next it's a fight for water and air.

Shoulder to shoulder, wheel to wheel,
Who's gonna kill,
Who's gonna kill the auto?
The automobile?

Plunder for crown, pillage for gods,
Copper, jade, iron, bronze,
Sheep, swine, oxen, birds,
Dinosaur bones deep in the earth.

 Well, drill, refinery,
Trucks roll endlessly,
Burn, spill, carry, flood,
Killing's our business and business is good.

Bumper to bumper, steel to steel—
Who's gonna kill,
Who's gonna kill the auto?
The automobile?

Hey ho, here we go,
Neck and neck to the end of road.
Hey ho, here we go,

Neck and neck to the end of road.

Rubber burns, tires squeal.
Who's gonna kill,
Who's gonna kill the auto?
The automobile?
